When I first decided to buy an electric fireplace it was partly to do with necessity and partly felt impulsive. Let me explain a bit more about how I ended up buying an electric fire suite online.
I'd always liked the idea of having an open fire but I also realised that it wasn't very practical, given the property that I was living in. My house had been built a little more than 20 years ago and, like many homes constructed around the same time, had been built without a chimney.
Electric Feel
The reason for this was that it had been constructed to include a central heating system. Since such systems don't need a chimney in order to operate correctly, there had been no need for the original architects to think about including a chimney when the house was designed and built.
Although the gas boiler was perfectly efficient, I always felt that the radiators rather lacked charm. It would have been great to have an open fire in the living room but it was clear to me that this simply wasn't very practical.
In order to get one installed I'd presumably need to have some expensive building work done. I simply didn't have the money available to have such a task carried out on my behalf.
Having been resigned to being stuck with my existing radiators, I spotted a flueless electric fire in a neighbour's house. I was impressed - in fact, the electric fire suite was extremely impressive.
It wasn't just warming the room - it also looked incredibly stylish. With its contemporary look, it was clear to me that this could be perfect for my own home.
I started to look at the different designs available and visited a local fireplace showroom to get an idea of how much I might have to pay. I was quite surprised at the costs involved - most models seemed to be priced at higher prices than I'd imagined that I might have to pay.
For comparison purposes, I thought I'd see how online prices compared. I was pleasantly surprised to find that internet retailers were selling the same fire suites for up to 50% less than I'd seen in the local shop.
It was clear to me that the best prices were to be found online. I'm now the proud owner of an electric fireplace - it's flueless and looks sleek.
The best news of all is that I feel it was a bargain!
